A Day After the Dallas Shooting, Police Ambushed in Missouri, Georgia

By Published on July 9, 2016

A day after the deadly ambush which killed five Dallas police officers and left 7 other officers wounded, two new attacks Friday further suggest a target has been place on the backs of our men and women in blue.

911 Ambush in Georgia

Just after 8 a.m. a man in Valdosta, Georgia called 911 to report a vehicle break-in. When Officer Randall Hancock arrived at the scene, the suspect ambushed him, opening fire. Officer Handcock was shot multiple times, but managed to return fire, wounding his attacker. Officer Hancock is expected to survive, as will the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Paul Beck. Beck is described by authorities as an Asian male.

Despite saying the officer was lured to the scene by the gunmen, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation says there is no immediate evidence the ambush is related to the Dallas police massacre.

“We’re putting pieces together to understand what happened and why, developing witnesses,” said GBI spokesman Scott Dutton, “There’s nothing to indicate there’s a connection to that.”

Traffic Stop Attack

A couple of hours later in Ballwin, Missouri, a police officer was shot from behind during a routine traffic stop. According to police, as the unidentified officer went back to his car, the driver got out, “advanced quickly” and fired three shots, striking the officer in the neck. The officer is in critical, but stable condition “fighting for his life,” said Ballwin Police Chief Kevin Scott. “Make no mistake,” said St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar, “we believe that Ballwin officer was ambushed.”

The suspect, described as a tall, thin African-American male in his 30s, was captured after fleeing the scene on foot.

U.S. Congresswoman Ann Wagner of Missouri has tweeted a request for prayer.
