Officers, Bystanders Form Human Chain to Rescue Florida Man From Burning SUV

Police officers and bystanders in Florida locked arms over the weekend — literally.

It happened after an SUV flew off the road and down an embankment after a collision, leaving the driver trapped as his SUV burst into flames, The Today Show reported Monday.

Palm Bay police officers and witnesses of the crash rushed to help the man out of his car. Several people then locked arms to form a human chain in order to pull him up the steep incline away from the burning vehicle and back to the road.

The man survived with minor injuries.

Shannon Perez filmed the heroic deed with her cell phone. She said that she thought “at any moment, we could be witnessing a horrible, horrible scene.”
