Not Too Late to Turn the Tide

It is not too late to renew our culture and restore proven principles.

I do not remember witnessing so much hatred and potentially dangerous divisions and even bold threats against those trying to make meaningful corrections in our nation. Within hours of his election, President Trump’s critics were calling for his assassination or impeachment. His first full day in office, a world famous entertainer boasted how she dreamed of bombing the White House.

Just this week, Don Jr.’s wife Vanessa was rushed to the hospital after opening a hate-filled letter loaded with a white powder.

Major media have actively encouraged and spread the verbal poison.

Christ’s Redemptive Spirit Stands Against Hate

The Word of God tells us to hate evil, and we should especially avoid evil in our own lives. But we must not hate people who are different from us, who disagree with us, or who are trapped by evil tendencies and unwholesome lifestyles. It’s fine to disagree and debate. In order for “iron to sharpen iron” friction is required. Ongoing dialogue and important discussions are healthy.

As Bible-believing Christians, we are called to unwaveringly hold up the truth in love while standing against the hate-filled, deadly outbursts all around us.

I’m convinced this increase in hatred and violence in our nation is because people have moved far from the redemptive spirit found in Christ. The love of God within us gives us the ability to forgive and understand one another while holding true to our deep convictions with unwavering character.

Christians don’t have to be vindictive, destructive and hateful. The Bible says if you say you love God but hate your brother or sister, you are in darkness (1 John 2:9). No wonder the light is so dim, when so many Americans and people around the world are filled with darkness.

God Wants Us Blessed to Bless Others

Even wealth and success are under attack today. Many preachers dare not mention the blessings of God or prosperity for fear they will be critically labeled as “prosperity preachers.” We know there are excesses and extremes in every area. But doesn’t the Bible talk about God’s desire to bless us as His children? Don’t all parents want the best and greatest blessings for their children?

God wants us to be so blessed that we become a blessing to the nations of the world. How can we possibly ease suffering and help the poor if we don’t have the resources to do it? Even socialists must have some means of wealth from which to extract the money they wish to disburse. The free market and capitalism has been historically confirmed as the best way to create true prosperity. No other system elevates the poorest and most challenged people to a higher standard of living and greater opportunities.

That’s just the truth.

Communicating Transforming Truth

We launched The Stream website to share transforming truth and warn Americans that we must experience a change of heart and mind.

Change must come soon, or we are going to see the downfall of freedom and this once great nation. If we don’t recognize this foolishness and the danger imposed by the hatred of success, blessings and prosperity, we are going to destroy our ability to meet any legitimate need — along with our future and the future of our children and those we love.

It’s not too late for us to turn the tide. We need to release God’s love to people all around us, especially to those with whom we disagree. Only then can expressions of compassion replace hatred and violence. We must boldly demonstrate God’s power and especially His love and forgiveness in our nation today.

This message will resonate with many. However, they are unsure how to respond as salt-and-light kind of people in our present circumstances.

Read Stream senior contributor Dr. Michael Brown’s account of his event Wednesday night at a Virginia college. LGBT activists had spent the week ginning up anger and hostility toward his appearance on campus. Yet Dr. Brown met the activists and audience with love and grace and openness. The event went off without a hitch. Even many opposed to his views expressed gratitude afterwards for his heart.

Like Adam and Eve we have all been given a garden to oversee with diligent love and insight. Through The Stream we seek to share specific ways for believers to stand together against the gates of hellish deception and destruction.

One Nation Under God, Indivisible

Let us pray fervently for a historic outpouring of the Holy Spirit on His church. It is not too late to renew our culture and restore proven principles.

If we will stand up boldly for His truth, live in a way that impacts others, and demonstrate God’s character and love, then we can continue to be one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
