New York Bookstore Owner Closes Shop to Mourn the ‘Thousands of Babies That Will Die’

New York's new abortion law allows abortionists to kill babies up to full term.

A bookstore in New York closed its doors Wednesday to mourn babies who will soon be killed.

A new law, The Reproductive Health Act, signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo, allows abortionists to kill babies up to the point of birth.

Taking a Stand

Jon Speed, owner of Jon Speed: The Book Scout, told The Western Journal that he was distraught. He had a hard time sleeping. “There’s not much you can do after the fact. I thought, ‘Well maybe I just put a sign out and explain my position.’” Speed doesn’t normally talk with customers about his beliefs, but when the legislation passed he had to make a stand.

And that’s what he did. The sign in his window said, “CLOSED TODAY. Today is a day of mourning in New York State. We will not collect sales tax today for a tyrannical government that murders babies. We will resume regular business tomorrow, collecting sales tax under duress. End Abortion Now.”

Speed also posted his position on Facebook. “The book store is closed today. It is a day of mourning in New York. In honor of the thousands of babies that will die in the years to come, we shall not be collecting sales tax for this tyrannical government today. We will on other days, under duress, but not today.”

Cuomo signed the bill into law on the 46th anniversary of Roe v. Wade.  Speed says that wasn’t a coincidence. “It was definitely intentional. Cuomo has not been shy about slapping conservatives around New York State.” He added that Cuomo once said that conservatives don’t belong in New York.
