Mining for Mayhem: Liberals Are Itching for Summer of 2020 2.0
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - JUNE 09: National Guard and LAPD stand guard outside of the Edward Roybal Federal Building as protesters gather on June 9, 2025, in Downtown Los Angeles, California.
May 25 marked the fifth anniversary of George Floyd’s death and the violence that followed it in the summer of 2020, when race riots rocked cities from coast to coast.
Now, it seems, the rudderless Democrats are once again mining for mayhem and salivating for a Summer of 2020 2.0 to give them what they otherwise can’t produce: political purpose.
Last Friday night, more than 1,000 rioters converged at a federal building in downtown Los Angeles demanding an end to the federal government picking up and deporting criminal illegal aliens. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released a statement describing assaults on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, who eventually dispersed the mob with tear gas and flash bang grenades.
More of the same took place over the weekend, as hurtling rocks and concrete blocks at federal law enforcement officers became the rioters’ preferred means of “sending” messages. More than 1,800 more protests are scheduled for this coming Saturday in some three dozen cities across the nation, rallying under the banner of “No Kings.”
The Ministry of Propaganda Gladly Awakens
The tumult had the mainstream media tripping over each other to see who could win the prize for best gaslighting. Their reports were filled with the fatuous babble of Marxist propaganda. For instance, the San Francisco Chronicle painted the federal government as the aggressors with the headline “National Guard fires tear gas at ICE protest in L.A,” and MSNBC predictably blamed President Donald Trump’s “violent crime rhetoric” as the root cause.
Never mind that ICE was specifically arresting criminal illegal aliens, including drug traffickers and gang members who are involved in, you guessed it — violent crime.
Never mind that House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) threatened last week to dox ICE agents. It doesn’t take an overpriced Ivy League degree to see that Jeffries is threatening to turn those officers’ personal details over to the Left’s mélange of thugs – like Tren de Aragua, ANTIFA, and opportunistic jihadists – who will do far worse things to them and their families than wave placards and shout rhyming slogans. Apparently, that’s neither a dog whistle nor “rhetoric” in MSNBC’s view.
But the agency currently in the running to win the Best Gaslighting Prize is not a media outlet. It’s the Los Angeles Police Department.
Not to be outdone by the notorious CNN reporter who stood in front of an inferno during the 2020 riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin, describing the “mostly peaceful protests,” the LAPD mind-numbingly stated over the weekend that “demonstrations remained peaceful” in describing Friday’s riots.
Flimsy Excuse for Violence
Why are atheistic secularists so prone to violence driven by false pretenses? Why do they believe laws apply only when it serves their own purposes?
Human behavior is ultimately informed by the presuppositions that each of us hold about the concept of final reality. Since the laws that govern our constitutional republic hinge on the absolute moral truth “that all men are created equal” and “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights,” it follows that preserving both law and liberty are ultimately bound to this view of reality.
But atheistic secularists, who believe humankind is the random spawn of some floating speck of dust and random chance, lack the universal truth of right and wrong that can only be found in God. Therefore, a centralized group of elites must increasingly dictate the “subjective” nature of law according to their own fancies.
Such is the way of Socialism and its older brother, Communism. Atheistic secularism must produce Marx, Hitler, Mao, and Xi Jinping. There is no Utopia. Stated differently, the secular vision of Utopia isn’t what the Russian, Chinese, or North Korean people signed up for.
Even in America, without God, the Left has no fixed point for absolute moral truth, no foundation for values, and no basis for a country whose laws are undergirded by the Christian consensus that the country was founded upon.
That’s how we got the radical Barack Obama and the Biden junta. In their hands (and by their autopens) laws predictably became servants to the disastrous ideology of relativism.
The Fruit of Our Beliefs
Since at least half the country holds the errant view of final reality as mere randomness and chaos, their ideas about laws have inevitably transmuted into Gumby jurisprudence – a malleable conception governed by the whims of oligarchs and elites.
The bottom line is this: Atheistic secularism must produce what it ultimately believes.
Don’t be fooled into thinking that President Donald Trump’s reelection alone will excise the tumorous growth of this dangerous worldview. In fact, the current rioting in Los Angeles is clear evidence that this necrotic approach to law continues to march on.
And the Democrats couldn’t be more thrilled.
So gird your loins, Christian, because the predictable pattern of relativism and the Leftist view of malleable jurisprudence is coming to a city near you.
