Following the massacre of Dallas police officers on Thursday, some local kids started their own businesses to help out victims and fallen officers’ families in their time of need.

Several girls in northwest Dallas started a lemonade stand outside a home, reports Fox News. They sold lemonade, cookies and brownies to raise money for victims and their families. Landry Nelon, one of the girls who organized the effort said she had already set up her own lemonade business before the massacre. “At first it was just a lemonade stand and then what happened to the police in downtown Dallas made me realize that families out there were in need of money,” she said.

So far, the girls have raised $5,000 for the cause. St. Andrew United Methodist Church has promised to match the first $1,000 the girls raised.

In response to this story, a Fox News viewer sent in a photo of another group of local boys and girls doing the same thing with their lemonade stand. Their group has raised over $1,000, which will also go to support the victims and families of fallen officers.
