Leading Genital Reconstructive Surgeon: Number of Patients Who Regret Sex Change is Rising

By Nancy Flory Published on October 8, 2017

A leading genital reconstructive surgeon said that the number of patients who regret their sex change surgery is rising.

Surgeon Miroslav Djordjevic, operating at a clinic in Belgrade, Serbia, said that the increase is especially rising in men who had surgery to look like a woman. Djordjevic said there were “crippling levels of depression,” suicidal thoughts and desire for reversals, reported The Christian Post.

“It can be a real disaster to hear these stories,” said Djordjevic. The surgeon said he performs approximately 100 surgeries per year, both in his Belgrade office and at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.

“Definitely reversal surgery and regret in transgender persons is one of the very hot topics,” he said. “Generally, we have to support all research in this field.” Djordjevic revealed that all of the reversal surgeries he has performed have been on men over 30 who wish to restore their male genitalia.

The surgeon also said that the average age of people undergoing sex-change surgery is lower and lower. He’s concerned that eventually it will be legal for minors to have sex surgery, but the surgery won’t be performed by him. “I’m afraid what will happen five to 10 years later with this person,” he said. “It is more than about surgery; it’s an issue of human rights. I could not accept them as a patient as I’d be afraid what would happen to their minds.” He also opposes the use of hormonal treatments for minors in preparation for sex-change surgery. “If you change general health with any drug, I’m not a supporter of that theory.”

Bath Spa University in the U.K. made a decision last week to block researchers from studying cases about sex-change surgery regrets. The university decided that the research is “politically incorrect,” and could expose the university to criticism.

Although psychotherapist James Caspian specializes in therapy for transgender people, he was refused permission to study sex-change regret cases. He said that Bath Spa University is violating “the most basic tenets of academic and intellectual freedom of enquiry.”

This article should be printed and posted on every high school bulletin board in the US. The gaystappo spreads out all over the internet trying to prey on young impressionable kids to join their cause and most of the kids are already mentally or emotionally fragile. Someone also needs to send this link to Secretary of Defense Mattis to put a stop to all the sex changes he’s ordering military doctors to do.

      Gay folks don’t recruit

      • GPS Daddy

        Some do.

        • John Connor

          Prove it

          • GPS Daddy

Really John. With all of the “evangelism” going on from the LGTB community you really throw down a gauntlet like that? How silly. You would have me believe that all of that are straight folks doing the promotions for the LGTB community? wow

          • GPS Daddy

By the way, have you figured out yet that its a serious wrong to financially destitute an elderly women because she would not provide flowers to a wedding?

          • John Connor

            She broke the law.

          • GPS Daddy

No, she did not. She broke activists judges rulings. Big difference. Just admit it John, your really a predator. Your willingness to cause harm to such a person is the very definition of a predator.

          • John Connor

LMAO! A predator? Too funny! They’re only activist judges when they don’t rule in your favor. Love it.

          • GPS Daddy

A preditor of the elderly no less.

          • John Connor

            Lol! She broke the law.

            Nope

          • GPS Daddy

Hmm, wow, your unread. And not in the know. I’m kinda shocked.

          • John Connor

Well read with regard to the treatment of pediatric patients

          • GPS Daddy

Not so much on the movements though. Kinda did a face plant there.

          • John Connor

            Nah

          • GPS Daddy

Yea you did. But your to arrogant to admit it. And you did a total, complete, face plant.

          • GPS Daddy

But I know I can put many well accredited doctors on the other side of your views and they can get toe-to-toe with you. Your views are politically/worldview motivated… nothing more.

            Not at all.

Notice how he said the CORRECT term for these attempts at sex change?
LOOK like a female. Just because you add boobs, or have a chop-a-dic-off-me surgery, doesn’t mean your DNA has changed.

“Surgeon Miroslav Djordjevic, operating at a clinic in Belgrade, Serbia, said that the increase is especially rising in men who had surgery to LOOK like a woman.”

  • Trilemma

As with any surgery to change a person’s appearance, there is always a small percentage that regret having the surgery whether it’s a face lift, breast augmentation, or gender reassignment surgery. The articles I’ve read indicate about 2% of those getting gender reassignment surgery end up regretting it.

Here’s the Newsweek article on this. (Delete the space after each dot.)

    uk. news. yahoo. com/transgender-surgery-regret-rates-highest-173002154.html

According to this article there were over 3000 gender confirmation surgeries performed last year. It has to be expected that a small percentage will come to regret getting this surgery. The article also says that Miroslav Djordjevic has performed only seven reversals in his clinic in Belgrade, Serbia in the past five years. That’s a really small percentage. Granted, these are people with enough regret and money to actually pursue reversal but I don’t see a big trend here.

However, as the rush to transition early increases, it’s likely the percentage of those regretting the surgery will increase.

    • GPS Daddy

The whole thing is a lie. You cannot change your sex only the cosmetics. So the medical community is helping these people lie to themselves. How can that be considered medicine?

      • Trilemma

It’s true that a person with gender dysphoria can only change the outward appearance of their body. Gender reassignment surgery doesn’t turn a man into an actual woman. That should be made clear to a person with gender dysphoria before undergoing the surgery. Do you consider gender dysphoria a lie?

        • GPS Daddy

Gender dysphoria is a disorder. Do you consider it morally acceptable to promote a disorder in someone else? Even to the point of surgery to make them feel better about their deception? How can that be morally good?

          • Trilemma

It’s morally acceptable to treat a disorder such as gender dysphoria. What makes you think people with gender dysphoria are being deceptive?

          • GPS Daddy

Hmmm. The person is male but they think their female. And no lie is being done? Yea, I’d say its clear that at some level the person is lying to themselves. Most people with mental problem have accepted some lie at some point. So you think it acceptable to allow someone to deceive themselves and them to deceive others about their sex? And you think it the medical community helps them in these deceptions?

          • Trilemma

You didn’t answer my question. What makes you think people with gender dysphoria must be lying to themselves.

According to the medical community, gender dysphoria is not a mental illness and is not a case of a person lying to themselves or being delusional or being deceptive.

I’m sure there are some people who manage to talk themselves into thinking they have gender dysphoria. But they should not be diagnosed or treated for gender dysphoria.

          • GPS Daddy

Oh please, Trilemma, you continue to answer my questions with questions. So get off your high horse.

According to the American Physiological Association, gender dysphoria is “involves a conflict between a person’s physical or assigned gender and the gender with which he/she/they identify.” Hmmm, if you cannot see the lie thats being told and accepted by the person then your willfully ignoring it. Gender dysphoria IS considered a mental disorder. And like I said before, mental disorders involve some level of lies that the person has accepted or is telling themselves. Do you deny that?

What is the lie going on here, Trilemma? Its extremely obvious.

          • Trilemma

This is from the American Psychological Association.

A psychological state is considered a mental disorder only if it causes significant distress or disability. Many transgender people do not experience their gender as distressing or disabling, which implies that identifying as transgender does not constitute a mental disorder.

Transgender is not a mental disorder.

          • 0pus

Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a mental disorder.
So the atheists who spew their hate at Christians 24/7 are mentally ill.

          • GPS Daddy

Nice change of topics. We were discussing gender dysphoria. Gender dysphoria is a mental disorder. But transgenderism is a sin.

          • Trilemma

Transgender is an umbrella term for a number of various types of gender nonconforming people including those with gender dysphoria. Therefore, if transgender is not considered a mental disorder then neither is gender dysphoria.

Where in the Bible is transgenderism called a sin?

          • GPS Daddy

If transgenderism is an umbrella term then why use it in our discussion? That, again, is simply changing topics – or more precisely – confusing the topic. Its like the pro-death people who say that abortion is healthcare for women.

            >>Where in the Bible is transgenderism called a sin?

Strawman argument. Of course the TERM transgenderism is not in the bible. But the concept is.. God HATES when a man dresses up ans a woman.

          • GPS Daddy

So it seems to me your trying your best to bring pagan ideas into Christianity. The whole transgenderism movement comes from pagan ideas namely that a female spirit has been deposited into a male body or visa versa. Another view is that the body is not really real. Which also means that the physical world is not real. Do you subscribe to any of these?

          • Trilemma

No, but it shows that transgenderism has been around for a long time.

          • GPS Daddy

Not good enough, Trillema. Do you accept or promote either of these ideas:

            1. The physical body is not really real. OR
            2. That a transgender person has the opposite sex spirit in their bodies? ie. – a female spirit in a male body or a male spirit in a female body?

          • Trilemma

            1. The physical body is really real.
            2. Transgender is not the result of a spirit in a human body. A transgender person is not the result of the opposite sex spirit in their body like native Americans believed. Nor is a transgender person the result of a demonic spirit in their body like some Christians believe.

          • GPS Daddy

            Is the spiritual word real?

          • Trilemma

            I don’t know.

          • GPS Daddy

Do you adhere to the new atheist views?

          • Trilemma

I’m not an atheist but which views are you referring to?

          • GPS Daddy

            Then what is your worldview?

The main view I’m referring to is the “lack of belief” that the new atheists love to put forth.

          • Trilemma

I don’t see how the lack of belief of New Atheism would be different from old atheism. I’m a theist so, no, I don’t adhere to their lack of faith. However, I do share the New Atheism view that superstition, religion and irrationalism should be challenged rather than simply tolerated as it was by older atheism.

          • GPS Daddy

            >> I’m a theist so

You don’t know if the spiritual world even exists. These don’t go together.

  • Stephen D

Sex change surgery cannot actually change the person’s sex. If truth were told it is a form of self-mutilation, like getting a tattoo or piercings. But many people are being deceptively led to believe that this is a valid medical procedure with therapeutic benefits for them.
My hope is that one day the victims of this procedure may be able to take legal action to recover damages for what has been done to them. I was tricked into having a vasectomy many years ago and have found even this experience to be deeply troubling over the long term. I wish I could have it reversed. Interfering with God’s design for the human body is a bad idea.
