Joy Break: An Unlikely Serenade

By Nancy Flory Published on May 2, 2018

When we turn on our television or smart phones we are bombarded with news that brings us down. Where are all the good stories? Those stories are still there. Here’s one that we hope will bless you.

Impromptu Serenade

Two police officers in Nottinghamshire, England, stopped by the home of an elderly man who had recently been burglarized. The two wanted to check in on the 93-year-old widower. But when one of the officers saw a piano with a piece of Chopin music opened on it, he decided to play an impromptu concert for the gentleman.

The music was the man’s favorite song. “I told him it was my late grandma’s favourite too!” the officer wrote on Facebook. “I said I could play, so he invited me to play for him, which I did. It made his day, as you can see in the video you can see how much he appreciated it. Job satisfaction.”

The video was posted to the Mansfield Police’s Facebook page. It has been viewed over 430,000 times.
