Joy Break: Saints QB Drew Brees: ‘My Faith Plays a Strong Role in Everything That I Do’

Our television or smart phones bombard us with news that brings us down. Where has all the good news gone? Those stories are still there. Here is a story that we hope will brighten your day.

Tomorrow, in Metarie, Louisiana, the New Orleans Saints and their Hall of Fame-bound quarterback Drew Brees open training camp for the 2017 season, eyeing a return to the Super Bowl. But last month, Brees had his eye on service.

On June 3, the 3rd Annual Brees Top Golf Challenge was held at Top Golf Las Vegas. Brees, the founder of the Brees Dream Foundation, told Faithwire the tournament is one way for him to serve others. The event helps raise money for a lot of charitable causes, he said, but it also inspires people to “identify charities or causes that are important to them in their communities and just go out and serve.”

Brees credits his faith with his servant’s heart.

“My faith plays a strong role in everything that I do, but certainly in the way I feel about serving others,” he explained. “It’s one of the key components to, I think, the Bible.” He added “And just about every piece of scripture that you read is about serving others and about giving of yourself.”

Brees said that the opportunity to work alongside those who serve others and give of themselves is an honor. See the interview below:
