Joy Break: NYPD Sings Happy Birthday, Brings Lunch to Homeless Woman

By Nancy Flory Published on July 6, 2018

When we turn on our television or smart phones we are bombarded with news that brings us down. Where are all the good stories? Those stories are still there. Here’s one that we hope will bless you.

A group of Staten Island, New York, police officers are getting some good publicity. On June 21, Mandie Dee shared a video on Facebook of the officers bringing a homeless woman food and singing “Happy Birthday” to her.

NYPD Officer Leron Lee had the idea to purchase a birthday meal for Lisa. At first his fellow officers made fun of him cheating on his diet. But that changed when they found out he was treating Lisa to lunch and a song. They decided to join in and sing as well.

“A little embarrassed,” said Officer Lee. “I didn’t do it for the positive feedback I got. I just did it to show someone gratitude on their birthday.”

The video of the officer’s kind deeds has been viewed over 30,000 times and shared hundreds of times.
