Joy Break: A Police Officer and a Gentleman

By Nancy Flory Published on April 27, 2018

When we turn on our television or smart phones we are bombarded with news that brings us down. Where are all the good stories? Those stories are still there. Here’s one that we hope will bless you.

A crisp salute to Montoursville Borough, Pa., Deputy Chief Jason Bentley for a recent act of kindness towards an elderly resident.

Roger Baker, 84, has been caring for his ailing wife of 60 years at home. When she was taken to the hospital for a medical emergency by ambulance, Mr. Baker had no way to get there.

Deputy Bentley got the call that Baker needed a ride to the hospital. “When he got out of my patrol car at the hospital, he held on to the side of the car for about a minute,” said Bentley. “I didn’t realize it was that bad, so I grabbed his hands and started to walk him in.” A police intern snapped the photo as the two made their way into the hospital.

The photo of Deputy Bentley’s kindness has been shared by thousands of people and has garnered over five thousand likes.
