How God Actually Turns Your Past Sins Into Blessings

By Jonathan Cahn Published on April 3, 2025

In this nine-minute message, Jonathan Cahn discusses how good God is at making beautiful things out of complete messes — even us. When we are close to God, our lives have meaning — but we can get off track, do our own thing for a season, and make a mess of it. However, when we return to God, He is so good and His love and mercy so complete that He turns even those awful things into blessings.

If you need encouragement today, this message is for you.

00:00:00:06 – 00:00:15:23
So you have a world that was good, but it’s fallen. And so they said, here it is. So you got two things going on. You got Joseph to save Egypt. But it’s a shadow of Messiah who’s going to save the world.

00:00:15:25 – 00:00:33:01
And so even in the Lord, the more you are closer to him, the more you’re, the more you’ll find the meaning of your life. The more you go off on your own. You go off. It gets messed up again, gets confused, messed up, get back. And there is meaning. He even takes what is all messed up and he puts that together to give that meaning.

00:00:33:06 – 00:00:51:23
See, Jesus is the one who puts everything together. He puts the Bible together. He’s the one. You know, you read the Bible. It only fully comes together in him. He’s the everything of the Bible. He’s the sacrifices. He’s the prophecies. He’s the everything in the same way. That’s like life. He is also the one who gets your life together, even when it’s a mess.

00:00:51:25 – 00:01:15:24
And so, you know, it’s here. So he’s giving meaning to their dreams. He’s giving meaning to it. And the Lord takes everything we give him, including sin and even sin. He cleanses of sin. But you know what the Bible says? He even turn sin around and gives that. It says, though your sins be as scarlet, they shall become white as snow, your sin shall become white itself.

00:01:16:01 – 00:01:38:01
What it’s saying is that God even takes whatever you give him. He takes the messed up mess, and he will take that, and he will turn it around. Even your past falls into sin. He will turn it around for your good. It’s kind of like you. You go to the doctor, they inject you things. If they inject you with dead cells, then you know the the principle is your immune system gets stronger.

00:01:38:01 – 00:02:01:08
But the cells can’t hurt you anymore. The Lord takes past sins and uses them, turns them around for your blessing, for your blessing in your life. Now we see the dreams. Two people, two kinds of dreams. Okay, you got the baked goods and the birds eat it. And you have the vine and the wine. There are two people interesting.

00:02:01:10 – 00:02:25:28
Two people representing two destinies to two kinds of people in the world. Those who are going to be saved and those who are not. We all have a choice. Unlike here, you have a choice to be saved and God wants all people to be saved. But interesting because notice in one of the symbol for the blood, like the blood of Messiah, which is about salvation, is the fruit of the vine.

00:02:26:01 – 00:02:46:01
It’s the fruit of the vine. He took this, said, take this right that represent him. So only one of those dreams has that symbol which represents Messiah’s life, salvation, his blood. So one is saved, one has, the blood is saved, the other one doesn’t have it, and they’re not saved. In the end, it’s all going to hang there.

00:02:46:03 – 00:03:03:29
Their destinies, where we’re taking the Joseph who gave it the meaning. Now they one of them probably didn’t want that meaning, but everything in the end is going to hang on him where you are with him. That’s it. Two kinds of people, saved or not, doesn’t matter how good or bad. But are you with Jesus? That’s it. Saved or not, two destinies all hangs on him.

00:03:03:29 – 00:03:23:11
Just like in the beginning. Everything came from him. Now all salvation comes through him. There’s only one way. That’s it. But the. The one who gets saved, who gets lifted up. You see, it’s interesting because he’s with he’s with both of them in prison. And the Lord died for all of us. But only one gets saved. The one who accepts it here.

00:03:23:13 – 00:03:43:29
So now that one forgets about him, and it’s kind of hard to forget about him. But this guy, I guess he’s so happy to get restored. He forgets about Joseph. And you know, I think about when you think about this and you think about Joseph was numbered with the criminals. What is it? What does Isaiah say about Messiah?

00:03:44:01 – 00:04:06:28
Says Messiah will be numbered with the transgressors. He was number just the same way, but he’s forgotten until something happens. Now we go to chapter 41 and now we go to another dream. But this is a bigger dream now. What happened? Verse one. At the end of two full years, Pharaoh had a dream and behold, he’s standing by the Nile.

00:04:07:01 – 00:04:31:27
And from the Nile came up seven cows, sleek and fat, and they graze in the grass. Then behold, seven other cows came up after them from the Nile, ugly and gaunt. And they stood by other cows by the other cows on the bank of the Nile. And then the ugly, gaunt cows ate up the seven good cows. And Pharaoh woke up, fell asleep, dreamed a second time, and now he has another one.

00:04:31:27 – 00:04:56:08
It’s going to be about he’s about about grain and going to be. So it’s kind of telling what’s going to happen in the morning. It says he was troubled, and he sent to his magicians of Egypt and his wise men. He said, he said, tell me the dream. But there was nobody who could do it. Then verse nine, the chief cupbearer, the chief cupbearer, spoke to Pharaoh and said, well, I would make mention today of my own offenses.

00:04:56:11 – 00:05:14:27
Pharaoh was furious with his servant. He put him in command of the house of the goat, both of the chief baker. We had a dream the same night he and I dreamed a dream. A Hebrew youth was with us, a servant of the captain, the bodyguard. And we told him, and he interpreted. And to each one he interpreted the dream.

00:05:14:27 – 00:05:45:16
And it came out just as he interpreted. Pharaoh sent and called for Joseph, and they hurried, brought him out of the dungeon. And when they shaved him, they changed his clothes, and he came to Pharaoh. All right. Pharaoh now has the dream. King of Egypt has a dream. You’ve heard the dream. Fat cows and lean cows. Now, in the Hebrew it goes a little stronger when it talks about the kind of the the bad looking cows.

00:05:45:18 – 00:06:04:04
The word actually uses the word evil cows. Evil thinking man. It’s kind of strange to call a cow evil. I mean, Hitler was evil. Stalin is evil, but a cow. How can you call a cow evil? You can call a cow fat. Maybe lazy, but evil doesn’t. How much evil can a cow do? You don’t think about that.

00:06:04:06 – 00:06:23:26
But it’s interesting that it calls it evil because, first of all, the the first interpretation is what Joseph will tell him, which is for Egypt, and that is that the seven good cows represent seven good years coming up of plenty, but then it will be followed by seven bad years of famine that will devour the first years.

00:06:23:29 – 00:06:43:23
And so here it is. But now let’s take it to this a shadow of Messiah. Messiah isn’t just the the one who comes to save Egypt. He comes to save the world. And so now you’ve got the Pharaoh who, having this dream representing the world back then, which was Egypt and beyond. And so now you’ve got a you’ve got this picture and it’s interesting.

00:06:43:23 – 00:07:07:03
Seven because the, the whole world is represented by seven created seven days of creation. And it was good. But then what happens to creation? Creation gets devoured by evil and sim creation gets messed up. Everything that’s good gets eaten by what is it now? In other words, you’ve got a fallen world. So you have a world that was good, but it’s fallen.

00:07:07:09 – 00:07:26:00
And so they sent. Here it is. So you got two things going on. You got Joseph to save Egypt. But it’s a shadow of Messiah who’s going to save the world. And they’re going to bring him the, the, the problem of the world is going to come on Messiah. He comes out from prison. Now, it’s amazing because the ancient rabbis actually wrote about Messiah.

00:07:26:01 – 00:07:48:24
They said God will liberate the Messiah from prison. In other words, Messiah is somehow going to get arrested and God is going to release him from his will. Ultimately from death. It says in that hour, this is what the rabbis write. The Holy One, blessed be he, will raise up the Messiah unto the heavens. So it’s the rabbis are saying he’s going to raise up messiah and ultimately to the heavens.

00:07:48:27 – 00:08:06:17
And so here’s what happened. What happens when they they get Joseph, they shave him and they give him new clothes. Seeing them in the prison, he would have had dirty clothes. So they change his garments. Notice this thing about in one of the another theme in the book of Joseph. In the book, the story of Joseph is clothes.

00:08:06:19 – 00:08:31:23
His brothers strip him of his clothes. Then part of his wife takes his clothes, and now he’s given. They take his clothes again and he’s given new clothes. Well, Messiah was crucified. He was basically he was also stripped of his clothes. And when he was stripped because he was crucified, virtually naked. But when he rose from the tomb, he had radiant clothes on.

00:08:31:25 – 00:08:56:00
So here’s another incredible picture of the rising. A the, you know, Joseph can’t die and come back unless God did miracle. But it’s a picture of Messiah going down to the depths, and then he’s going to be lifted up. This is Jonathan.
