Today We Pray

By Nancy Flory Published on May 4, 2017

Our Heavenly Father of love and light,

Our nation’s strayed from what is right,

Our prayer is “please forgive us,” and

Let us see healing in this land.

On our knees we stay in prayer,

Today we call on you to hear

Us as we cry for forgiveness of

Our many sins against your love.

Baby fingers Hands - 900The massacre of our little ones,

Blessings that we clearly shun,

They’re not for us we say with pride,

Inconvenient, the time’s not right.

Those who’ve watched and yet they stay,

Harmless but silent and out of the way,

While others still the little cry,

And we were quiet and walked on by.

Homeless Man Hand - 900And for those with us who have no home,

Walking the streets all alone,

While we could give them food and more,

We judge them for just being poor.

For getting caught up in our own busy lives,

And forgetting the lonely widowed wives,

Those who need Christ’s loving touch,

A hug, an ear, and all of us.

Handing out Bible - 900For failing to share You with the world

When we have hope in you, oh Lord,

Not caring to give the gift of You,

And your great love and mercy too.

We pray that you will forgive us now,

That hearts will heal as we tell about

What you’ve done for us and others,

Fathers, sisters, moms and brothers.

Praying Hands Faded - 900May your great love bless others as we

Are mirrors of You to those in need,

And of these sins so grievous,

We pray today for your forgiveness.
