Five Things to Note in the Sixth Planned Parenthood Video

By Amelia Hamilton Published on August 12, 2015

This morning, the Center for Medical Progress released their sixth video exposing the sale of parts of baby bodies. This video does not have the gruesome scenes viewers have come to expect, but was no less repugnant. In this video, whistleblower Holly O’Donnell, a former employee of Stem Express, details how very little the abortion and fetal aftermarket industries care about the women involved.

Here are five things from video six that you need to remember, with supporting quotes from O’Donnell.

(1) Planned Parenthood is Not Warm & Caring

“There were so many. So many. I would work for 8 hours, and there would be 40-something patients. It really wore me down.” (1:14 into video)

“The environment, it’s morbid. Like, you can feel it. You can hear screaming, you can hear crying.” (1:22)

“(Dr. Berman) had a reputation for going viciously fast. Like, if we didn’t watch him, we would lose our specimens. It was that fast. If there wasn’t a girl in the room, he would get mad. He would pace the hallways if there wasn’t something to do. Like, it’s almost like he wanted to do it, and that, that made me really concerned.” (4:12)

(2) The Sale of Baby Parts is About Profit

“Pregnancy tests are potential pregnancies, therefore, potential specimens. So, it’s just taking advantage of opportunities.” (2:03)

“The women I worked for were cold, just cold. They don’t care. They just wanted their money, they didn’t care that girls were throwing up in the trash can, crying.” (7:30)

“I’m not gonna tell a girl to kill her baby so I can get money, and that’s what this company does.” (8:30)

(3) The Care Women Receive is Questionable

“I was the only person who was a licensed CPT1, licensed phlebotomy technician, but the other individuals were drawing blood in the clinics.” (5:19)

(4) Fetal Donations Are Made Without the Consent of the Mother

“The co-workers I had, they were just, they would not consent the donors. If there was a higher gestation and the technicians needed it, they would just take what they wanted, and these mothers don’t know. There’s no way they would know. … I remember one time,  it was at the Fresno clinic, and that was the most high-volume clinic we have. Lots of abortions. Lots. I had a very gestated patient. … I consented her, and she said no, and I was fine with that. I’m not going to press anybody, I’m not gonna consent a girl who’s throwing up from the abortion medication, that’s not who I am. She said no and, the next day, Jessica came and said ‘Oh, that high-gestated girl, you have to make sure you get her.’ And I said, ‘Oh, I already consented her yesterday, she’s not comfortable.’  And Jessica looked at me like ‘ok’ and walked out. She went into the room and she came out and she was holding all these tubes, and all I said to her was, ‘What did you say to her to get that blood?’ and she was like ‘nothing.’” (5:29)

“It’s terrifying. Imagine you were an abortion patient and somebody was going in and stealing your baby’s parts. And half these women are already on the edge as it is.”  (7:08)

(5) Abortion Hurts Women

“There’s a reason why they keep journals in the recovery room. Like, if abortion was a good thing, there wouldn’t be so much emotional damage from it. End of story.” (9:15)

We are often told that supporting Planned Parenthood is supporting women. We are led to believe that it is a calm, caring oasis for women in crisis. Peek behind the curtain, though, and one gets an entirely different story.

The story of Planned Parenthood is the story of taking advantage of women at their most vulnerable.
