Firefighters Find Bibles, Crosses Untouched After Blaze Destroys Church: ‘Though Odds Were Against Us, God Was Not’

By Nancy Flory Published on March 4, 2019

In the early morning hours Sunday a fire destroyed a Grandview, West Virginia, church. Although the blaze took out everything else, Bibles and crosses inside Freedom Ministries Church miraculously survived. The Coal City Fire Department shared what happened on Facebook.

“On March 3 around 12:58am … our department was dispatched to assist Beaver VFD with a structure fire at the Freedom Ministries Church, located in Grandview, WV. Though odds were against us, God was not. Picture this, a building so hot that at one point in time, firefighters had to back out. In your mind, everything should be burned, ashes. Not a single bible was burned and not a single cross was harmed!! Not a single firefighter was hurt! Prayers for the pastor and the congregation today.”

The department stacked the Bibles and snapped a photo.

Freedom Ministries Church also posted on Facebook. “We have a heavy heart this morning, our church had a fire last night. We will have to rebuild but we will be ok. We will fight the enemy and not let him hold us down.” The church asked for prayer for their pastor Phil and his wife, Candice as well as for the church family. “FREEDOM MINISTRIES IS UNDONE WE ARE NOT FINISH[ED].” The church added that Jesus was with them even as the fire burned.

Please pray for Freedom Ministries church as they begin to rebuild.
