Content Creators FAQ
What is The Stream?
The Stream is a new TV-based app fully owned and operated by LIFE Outreach International (LIFE), the parent organization of the globally syndicated daily broadcast program LIFE Today. James and Betty Robison founded LIFE Outreach International over 60 years ago to bring the Gospel to people across the world. The Stream exists to continue that mission through the modern conduit of streaming television.
How do I watch content on The Stream?
You can watch our library of content online at www.stream.org and on Roku via The Stream app. We also have apps in active development for several other platforms including AppleTV, Amazon FireTV, Android, Samsung, and LG. Stay tuned for information about when The Stream is available on those platforms.
How much does it cost viewers?
Nothing. You don’t need to worry about another recurring subscription to watch The Stream’s library of quality Christian programming. We exist as an extension of LIFE’s broadcast ministry. As such, The Stream does not collect payment information.
How much does it cost content creators?
There is no cost to content creators. The Stream is not a “business venture” in the sense that LIFE did not create it to sell distribution to others. Additionally, there are no third-party advertising modules, such as Google Ads. There is therefore no revenue sharing or any other financial transactions.
Why launch The Stream?
The Stream is an extension of LIFE’s media ministry, not a commercial platform. Our mission is “to share God’s love in word and deed.” By creating a platform that distributes a wide range of media ministry, we fulfill part of our mission.
In 2024, LIFE launched an app for the LIFE Today daily broadcast program. That app racked up thousands of downloads without ever being promoted. We realized that there is a hunger for high quality Christian programing and biblically sound teaching. However, it makes little sense for every ministry with a media presence to create, promote, support, and maintain a separate app. Nor do viewers want to download dozens of separate apps to stay up-to-date with their favorite programming.
With this in mind, The Stream was launched in 2026 and the LIFE Today program moved to it. We then began inviting other content creators to join, knowing that more content creates a better viewer experience and helps increase visibility and reach for every program on the platform.
We believe that by partnering together and breaking out of our separate ministry silos, we can reach a larger audience with the Good News. We hope you will join us as we work to build “the ultimate Christian TV app.”
What kind of content do you want?
The Stream is built for long-form video, the kind that you would watch on your living room TV. Generally, we prefer segments that are at least 15 minutes long, but a series with some shorter segments would be considered. The Stream is not suitable for Instagram/TikTok style content.
Content must also have good technical quality and production value, though not necessarily broadcast level. Many podcasts meet our standards. Delivery specifications will be provided to participating content creators.
Content cannot violate LIFE’s policies or values, including defamatory, obscene, pornographic, or hateful material. Theological variances on secondary issues are allowed within orthodox Christian principles. Content providers must vouch for all intellectual property rights within their content.
How do I get my content on The Stream?
Get it touch with us using our “Content distribution” form. Be sure to include links to your existing content, a brief description of your program, and the appropriate contact email (if not your own) for us to follow up with you.
What is the process?
First, we obtain written permission to distribute your programs. Second, we gather video files, artwork, and descriptions. Third and finally, we publish your programs. It’s that easy.
How do I get my content off The Stream?
The agreement allowing us to distribute your content has an optional end date field. If this is filled in, our distribution permissions will expire and we will pull down your content. The agreement also allows both parties a 30-day option to cease distribution of all content.
Additionally, we support start and end date metadata for individual pieces of content, should your use case require a limited viewing window for each segment.
Can you stream live content?
Yes. Livestreaming is handled on a case-to-case basis to accommodate various technical requirements. If you have a livestream you would like to distribute on The Stream, contact us for more information.
