His parents and hospital are still attempting to work out final details regarding his last days of care.

Charlie Gard will be moved to a hospice to spend his final moments with his parents in peace and privacy.

After withdrawing their request to take Charlie to the U.S. for experimental treatment, his parents, Chris Gard and Connie Yates, have been fighting to take him home. They wanted to spend their last days with him away from the hospital where he has been consigned since October.

Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) argued in court Tuesday that moving Charlie to the couple’s home, a flat in west London, would be impossible. They suggested a hospice instead.

A team of GOSH nurses volunteered to care for Charlie at the hospice, which Gard and Yates’ attorney Grant Armstrong praised. Charlie, an 11-month-old with severe mithochondial depletion syndrome, must be watched at all times. A surgeon will also lead a team of doctors to care for Charlie in his last days, the Telegraph reported.

Judge Nicholas Francis at the London High Court gave Charlie’s parents, GOSH, and his legal guardian until Thursday to work out details regarding his last days. If no agreement is reached, Charlie will be taken off life support soon after being moved to the hospice.

His parents want around a week with him at the hospice. However, Charlie is not expected to live to see his first birthday on August 4.
