Cardinal Wuerl on the Message of Ben-Hur

Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington, recently provided commentary on the new remake of Ben-Hur. In particular, Cardinal Wuerl offers insight on a scene called “Judah helps Jesus,” which details Judah Ben-Hur’s encounter with the Lord shortly before His crucifixion.

Cardinal Wuerl marvels at how the mission of Jesus Christ is encapsulated within this one scene. As Jesus tells Ben-Hur that he gives His life freely, Ben-Hur inches closer and closer to the Lord — something Cardinal Wuerl says we all must do daily.

Ben-Hur, starring Jack Huston and Morgan Freeman, hits theaters on Friday, August 19.
