An Overtime Brew: Headdresses, Head-Scratchers and a Hostage Hallelujah

Nice shot. Then-Senator Joe Biden playing football with sons Beau and Hunter, Super Bowl Sunday 1987.

It’s still Monday and we’ve got us an extra Brew, extra caffeinated.

Let’s knock out a few more Super Bowl-connected tidbits.

Few Stood for “Lift Every Voice and Sing”?

Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen is irate : “Very very few stood for ‘Lift Every Voice and Sing’. The Negro National Anthem. Not a pretty picture of Super Bowl crowd.”

The Super Bowl is about the only thing left that brings together all races and stripes. Why try to wreck that? Besides that, the song made it to the Super Bowl. It’s now right there in the rarified air with “America the Beautiful.” Trying to force it down our throats as some alternative national anthem to tear down our one National Anthem does the song … and those whom the song lifted up … a disfavor. For that matter, Americans would be less resistant if the same people pushing us to stand for the “Black National Anthem” weren’t the same people celebrating those who kneel for the National Anthem.

Besides, no knock on Andra Day, but had that been Whitney, America would have been on its feet.  Just sayin’.

Biden Head Bumps and Head Scratchers

It’s 11 a.m. on the East Coast, and this bizarre tweet from Joe Biden is closing in on 115 million views.

Fox News reports Biden appeared to conk his head on the top door frame of his Marine One helicopter after returning to the White House. However, it’s the staffers who thought the tweet and his “Shrinkflation” Super Bowl video were good ideas are the ones who need their head examined.

And here’s another one. Joe Biden’s campaign has joined TikTok. The very same Chinese-controlled, data grabbing social media app that Biden’s own government won’t let Federal employees have on their phone.

But you know Biden and the Chinese. And if you don’t, you will know more after former business partner Tony Bobulinski testifies tomorrow in the Impeachment Inquiry.

Chiefs Fan Sues Deadspin, Shows Up at Super Bowl in Full Headdress!

Remember the little boy in face paint and headdress who was dubbed a racist and cultural appropriator by Deadspin, only to turn out to just be zealous Chiefs fan and a Native American?

9-year-old Holden Armeta and his family were at the game last night, thanks to a grass-roots fundraising effort.

This comes days after his family sued Deadspin over the outrageous slur.

If the Nick Sandmann case is any indication, Holden won’t need fundraisers to pay his way to the Super Bowl any time soon.

And he was at the game!

Prayers for Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin is in the critical care unit at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, with what the Pentagon calls “an emergent bladder issue.” Austin has transferred his duties to Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks. Austin’s Super Bowl Sunday hospitalization comes less than a month after his hospital stay that he kept secret from the Commander-in-Chief, National Security Advisor, congress, the Joint Chiefs, even most of his own staff.

Praise God! Two Hamas Hostages Rescued

Hours after Joe Biden tried telling Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “not to proceed” with an invasion of the city of Rafah without plans to protect the million or so people there, IDF announced a daring raid into Rafah had rescued two hostages.

About a 100 hostages remain.

We continue praying for their safe rescue or release.
