Actor Tyrese Gibson: ‘Jesus Brought Me My Mother Back’

By Nancy Flory Published on October 19, 2017

Fast & Furious actor Tyrese Gibson celebrated his mother’s 11th year of sobriety from alcohol by buying a house for her.

Gibson bought his mother a five-bedroom home. “This is how I decided to celebrate her and the victories God’s favor that he has extended over her life.”

Gibson’s mother led him to the Lord when he was a young child but slipped into alcoholism later. Gibson said his mother’s 27 years of alcoholism “killed” his childhood. But he’s forgiven her and says now that what she said or did while drinking wasn’t really her, reported Faithwire.

Jesus Brought His Mother Back

“That was NEVER my mother who said and did those things. … That was a [woman] under the ‘influence,'” Gibson wrote on Instagram. “The mother that I know that raised me before the drinking started was always in church, always sweet to everyone, always giving….”

“So blessed to know that this same JESUS brought me my mother back,” he added.

My mother introduced me to the Lord my mother showed me what love is, she’s also the only one who has ever broken my heart so I thought……. It’s very easy to THINK of your parents as the actual problem because of what THEY’re saying and doing while drinking or using drugs…….. My prayers for clarity has been answered… That was NEVER my mother who said and did those things…. That was a women under the “influence”…. The mother that I know that raised me before the drinking started was always in church, always sweet to everyone, always giving, and in most cases giving to those who in my opinion didn’t deserve it…… So blessed to know that this same JESUS brought me my mother back…. alcohol took you away from me for 27 years…… 11 years later I trust you with me again….. I trust Shayla with you again…….. The memories of what was said and done are slowly fading away cause a mother would never ever do that to her Baby Boy……… enjoy your day I hope at least person out there is touched by this message…….. Don’t get caught up in the hype….. This is what my timeline is about asserting and inspiring change…… Mother I will echo this around the world that I forgive you…… And I will forever blame it on the Ah Ah Ah Ah Alcohol

Earlier this year, Gibson posted on Facebook that he’d never lost faith in God, even through his darkest hours. The post celebrated his birthday and spending time with God. “Thank you father God for allowing me to see another birthday,” Gibson wrote. “I just finished praying on the beach looking up at the stars I just had one of the best open and honest talks with God about where I am what he has brought me through and how I have never ever ever lost faith in HIM throughout some of my darkest hours….”
