A Brew ’22 in Review Special: A Year in the Bananas Republic

By Al Perrotta Published on December 29, 2022

2022 was a year where the United States became a full-fledged Bananas Republic. A Bananas Republic has all the despotism of a Banana Republic, with an extra layer of insanity.

How insane? Here are just a handful of examples.

The FBI … Synonymous With ‘Stasi’

The FBI raided the house of a former president of the United States … over documents. Correction. The FBI raided the home of the leading challenger to the current president.

The same FBI is arresting pro-life demonstrators while ignoring the fire-bombings and attacks on pro-life pregnancy centers and churches.

The same FBI pushed Twitter to target satire sites and tweets.

The DOJ can track down a granny in a MAGA hat in a crowd of hundreds of thousands, but can’t find which of the handful of people with access leaked the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision.

For that matter, they seem to have no interest in finding the man who placed pipe bombs at the RNC and DNC on January 6, time bombs perfectly timed with the kick-off of the violence.

Prime Time Inquisitions and Other Tales of Despotism

The J6 Committee holds prime time hearings staged by a TV producer like a live production of The Sound of Music. I particularly loved Liz Cheney’s number “How Do You Solve a Problem Like the Donald?” The Committee then releases a report that barely mentions the two pipe bombs placed on January 6 and doesn’t even mention the one guy who was actually pushing for an attack on the Capitol the night before and day of, one Ray Epps. (“Fed! Fed! Fed!” the MAGA people shouted. An FBI official grilled by Sen. Ted Cruz dodged the question of whether Epps was working for the Feds that day. And “how many Feds and undercover informants actively participated in the events of January 6?”)

The Feds and Dems call MAGA voters “threats to democracy,” while working hand-in-hand with big tech to crush the free flow of information that’s essential to democracy. Want to see an example? Google “Ted Cruz Ray Epps.” Then do the same search on DuckDuckGo.

The Democrats spend tens of millions on border security in other countries, tens of billions to protect the border of Ukraine, yet ban our own Border Patrol from spending a dime on securing our border. And Republican Swamp creatures go along with it.

The DHS will ignore the dangers posed by hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants pouring across the border … but will warn of domestic terrorism in response to even more immigrants pouring across the border thanks to the potential end of Title 42.

The White House changes the definition of recession to avoid admitting the nation is in a recession. They said robust job growth of 1 million new jobs in the second quarter indicated we were not in a recession. After the midterms, we learn the “1 million new jobs” was actually only 10,000. Fix the books. Fix the narrative. Leave Americans in a Fix.

The White House is flying unaccompanied children all over the country in the dead of night to be handed off to God knows who … and yet gets outraged when Texas and Florida send a busload of willing illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard so the elites can get a taste of what border towns are facing.

Martha’s Vineyard had those illegals off the island faster than you can say “Chardonnay.”

The White House’s token transgender Deputy HHS Secretary pushed for social media sites to censor people who don’t think castrating children and cutting off healthy breasts is a “positive value” for kids. This same official hell-bent on sterilizing children in the name of trans rights also celebrated delaying his own “transition” until after having children.

The Sniffing, Stumbling, Tottering King of a Bananas Republic

Sitting on the throne as king of this Bananas Republic is Joe Biden. Who pulls his strings is unknown, though the Easter Bunny proved to be at least one of his puppet masters.

A full list of ways he has built this Bananas Republic will keep us here to Christmas. His mental decline and endless muffs and lies, his needing of cue cards, his mindless reading of whatever’s on the teleprompter, including prompts, hide his arrogant and flagrant abuses of power.

Let me offer two:

Joe Biden refuses to release the list of visitors to his Delaware homes, even though he spends a ridiculous amount of his term there, rather than the White House. Yet he unilaterally — and if you believe Alan Dershowitz, unconstitutionallywaived Donald Trump’s Executive Privilege, which set in motion the FBI’s massive raid on the home of Biden’s chief political rival.

Then there was his Philadelphia speech. A speech that will live in infamy. In front of a blood red backdrop, Biden raged against half the people he rules, “a threat to the soul of this country.” We’ve seen the words and imagery and demonization before. 1930s Germany.

And yet as we’ve laid out above, it is his actions and the actions of his administration that threaten not only the soul, but the existence, of this nation. That mimic to the letter the actions of a Third World banana republic.

And then you add the bananas:

Joe Biden won’t do interviews with real reporters … but he will be interviewed by a grown man who insists he’s becoming a young girl.

Joe Biden’s poster boy for gender fluidity, the fetish-loving drag queen Biden put in charge of nuclear waste, is busted for stealing women’s luggage from two airports.

Joe Biden nominates to the Supreme Court a woman who can’t define what a woman is.

Oh, well. At least he’s got his Bananas Republic headed in the right direction … or not.

God willing, 2023 will see America start to shed its creeping despotism. Freedom and power … and yes, sanity, will return to the people. Hint: It’s in our power to make it happen. If we take to our knees, take a stand and take it all in with humor and grace.
