Candace Cameron Bure Says the Secret to Her Long Marriage is Jesus

Candace Cameron Bure has been married to her husband Valeri Bure for 22 years. The Fuller House television star recently shared her secret to her long marriage with People.

“The reality is the glue for us is Jesus,” she said. “It’s the Bible. You know, when there are arguments or we’re compromising and in ways, it’s always like, ‘Well, let’s just go back to the Bible.’ It’s the foundation for us. So it’s not about winning or losing, but doing this journey together.”

She and her husband have three children: Natasha, 19, Lev, 18, and Maksim, 16.

Cameron Bure says prayer is an integral part of her day. In an interview with Faithwire, she talked about how important daily prayer is in her life and how she doesn’t feel balanced when she doesn’t pray. “If I’ve got a tough day, God’s right there with me by my side.” She said that many people don’t realize that prayer is “an open dialogue with God at any time of the day or night.”

“There’s nothing too small to talk to Him about, there’s nothing too crazy or big idea to ask Him about. Whether it’s praise or asking for help, it’s just an ongoing dialogue.”

She also said that she feels sorry for those who, after a tragedy, mock prayer. “It bothers me and I feel sad for the people who write it, because the first thing I think is, ‘Well, they’ve never experienced the power of prayer. They just don’t know,’” Bure said. “Prayer, for me, is always where you start. That’s the start of your solution. Then, yes, you take action.”

She said prayer is the starting place because there’s power behind prayer. “God’s the power,” she said. “God can do anything, change anything [and] change hearts. It’s the heart of all of us that need to be changed and that’s where God needs to get in.”
