Georgia’s Freshman QB Praises God Even After Defeat: ‘God is Good, All the Time’
Alabama won the College Football Playoff National Championship Monday night. I wrote about freshman quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s response here. His declaration that “All glory goes to God” could have been dismissed as a winner’s spontaneous, glib answer to a reporter (although Tagovailoa has been very vocal in his faith in the past).
Praising God Even After a Defeat
So what about Georgia’s players — the Bulldogs who suffered a dramatic, heartbreaking 26-23 overtime loss? Can they respond in kind, even after the defeat?
Yes, they can.
Georgia’s freshman quarterback Jake Fromm did just that on Twitter yesterday. Here’s what he had to say:
God is good, all the time. And all the time, God is good. So thankful for an incredible season with these seniors who have given so much to this university. They’ve set the standard for UGA football and we will be back. Love my teammates and Go Dawgs!

According to Dawgs247, “Fromm finished his freshman season with 2,615 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and seven interceptions, with three rushing touchdowns and a 160.1 passer rating. That gives him the most touchdown passes by a true freshman in program history, second-best single-season passer rating in program history, and third-most passing yards by a freshman in school history.”
Fromm’s tweet shows that it’s not about praising God only when your team wins, but praising God even in defeat. God is good, all the time!
