Planned Parenthood Closes Near Nation’s Capital

A Planned Parenthood that Mercy Missions founder and sidewalk activist Lauren Handy told The Stream aborts 100 babies per month is closing down. The center is located a few miles outside of Washington, D.C.

“This summer, Mercy Missions started a campaign called Abortion is Bad Business,” Handy explained. “The goal was to close the Silver Spring Planned Parenthood in six months or less. It was a success, with Planned Parenthood’s lease has being cut.”

According to Handy, she and others engaged in “sustained peaceful protesting” and “went after the enablers, Peel Properties. They owned the building Planned Parenthood is housed in. Through holding protests outside Peel Properties and calling Denise Peel, the owner, to live out her Catholic faith, the decision to cut Planned Parenthood’s lease was made.”

“We proclaimed the message, ‘we leave when Planned Parenthood leaves.’ The campaign is at its climax, to push along Peel Properties to move up the eviction date. 100 babies are killed each month at this location, and time is of the essence. This is a victory for the movement and most especially the babies.”

Handy announced the closing in the below Facebook Live video taken by LifeSiteNews. She also spoke about the closure in her own Facebook Live video, seen here. A phone call by The Stream to Peel Properties to confirm the closure reached an after-hours voice message.

Editors’ Note: If in your heart, call Peel Properties at (301) 280-4400 to thank the company for pulling its lease, and to politely encourage it to fast-track the eviction of the Planned Parenthood center.
