I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live …ย  (Deut. 30:19)

The Stream‘s #100forLife has commenced. 100 hours dedicated to the cause of life and the curse of abortion. 100 hours to shine light into the darkness of America’s culture of death on the 100th anniversary of Planned Parenthood. 100 hours for you to share your stories and join us for our#100forLife prayer vigil.

It’s to our knees we must go. And it is fitting we do so today of all days, for it is Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement; the most solemn day of the Jewish calendar. The day the Jewish people cry out to God for forgiveness of sins.

But how do we atone for the sin of abortion? How do we wash ourselves of the innocent blood of some 60ย million children killed by our hands just since Roe v. Wade became the law of the land and the countless other millions since Margaret Sanger opened her first center a century ago Sunday? What happens if we don’t even try?

“I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever,” Thomas Jefferson once said.

So for the next hundred hours we pray. And together we set to work. From this moment through Sunday at noon Central Time, The Stream will be flowing with stories that inform, enrage and ultimately inspire. While allies of Planned Parenthood toast their century of carnage, and encourage women to speak loudly, joyfully of their abortions (as Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards did again last week), our encouragement will be directed toward the wondrous gift of children, toward the preciousness of each baby’s breath, and our toast will be that most Jewish and beautiful of toasts:

“L’Chiam! To Life!”

Note: To see what you can do to join in the #100forLife effort, and to keep track of all the #100forLife happenings, including our #100forLife Twitter feed, see our special #100forLife event page. Also using the #100forLife tag in our search engine will take you to every one of the many stories and special features we will be posting.

If you are so led, please select a specific hour out of the next 100 to pray for the cause of life. (Specific suggestions are found on the #100forLife event page.)

And finally, please, please, please share The Stream‘s articles, graphs and features on social media. One thing you will discover this week, if you do not already know, is just how fragile the choice often is between life and death. One tweet may well keep a child alive.
