Worry or Rest?

By Betty Robison Published on March 10, 2015

BETTY ROBISON — “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31 NKJV).

The world around us tells us we need to be strong, to be more disciplined and not to let the troubles of life get us down. But most of the time life does get to us and we are left feeling like failures when our own strength, effort and self-control isn’t enough.

Life gives us plenty of opportunities to worry — when we have a sick child, when a loved one is diagnosed with a fatal illness, or when life just doesn’t go the way we think it should.

In those moments, we have a choice to make. We can choose to rely on our own strength, which would leave us feeling tired, worried and useless. Or we can choose to rely on God’s strength and rest in Him.

My prayer is that in every situation we would choose to find our strength in Him and trust that He is going to bring peace to our circumstances and rest to our hearts.

Take action: Declare today: Jesus, I receive Your freedom in my life. I receive Your grace and mercy. Fear has no place here. You are my security and my confidence. Your Word is life to my body, soul and spirit.
