Snowfall rates of up to 2 inches per hour have been observed early Saturday morning in both the Washington, D.C. and New York City areas. The combination of strong winds and heavy snow will continue to create life-threatening whiteout conditions for anyone attempting to travel on Saturday.

Blizzard warnings remain in effect for more than 33 million people from northern Virginia to southern Connecticut, including Washington D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York City.
