Swedish Church to Drop Thousands of Bibles in ISIS Territory Using Drones

A church in Sweden is planning to blanket Islamic State-controlled parts of Iraq with thousands of Bibles via drones.

The Livets Ord, one of Sweden’s largest churches, has a plan to fly drones at high altitude and drop Bibles, though another unnamed organization will actually carry out the operation, The Local reports.

These Bibles are small and electronic and also work without access to electricity.

“The bibles are the size of pill boxes and have a display. They require no electricity, but work on their own,” Livets Order mission director Christian Åkerhielm told broadcaster SVT, The Local noted.

“We start our project in a few weeks and hope to drop thousands of bibles,” Livets Ord said on its website.

The organization told The Local that the project to drop Bibles from drones has no connection to the military and should not be interpreted as an aggressive action.

“This missions project is closer to traditional smuggling of bibles, and it is not connected to any military or aggressive action in any way,” a spokesperson said.

For Livets Ord, the idea is to spread Christianity to areas where civilians no longer enjoy basic human rights.
