Rubio Continues Full-Scale, Joyful Assault Against Trump

Republican Sen. Marco Rubio dialed up the insults against fellow presidential candidate Donald Trump on the campaign trail Friday, repeating and expanding on successful punch lines from Thursday’s debate and mocking Trump for misspelling mean tweets about him.

“It’s time to pull his mask off, so that people can see what we are dealing with here,” Rubio said at a rally in Dallas, Texas. “What we are dealing with here my friends is a con artist.”

Rubio outlined attacks he used in Thursday’s debate in a mocking tone, criticizing Trump for bankrupting a casino, flip-flopping on socialized healthcare and hiring foreign workers for jobs in Florida when American workers were available. He also hit Trump for his defense of Planned Parenthood, when Trump said during the debate the group helps “millions of women.”

He urged the crowd to help him “unmask” Trump, saying “friends do not let friends vote for con artists.”

Apparently enjoying himself, Rubio then read a series of tweets from Trump following the debate, in which Trump misspelled several words while hurling insults at Rubio. “I have ’em right here,” Rubio told an enthusiastic crowd. “Let’s read some, you’ll have fun.”

Rubio read and mocked the tweets, in which Trump spelled choker “chocker,” spelled honor “honer” and spelled lightweight “leightweight.” They have since been corrected.

“Here’s what I’m thinking, so how does this guy not in one tweet, three tweets misspell words so badly?” Rubio asked. “And I only reach two conclusions. Number one, that’s how they spell those words at the Wharton school of business where he went, or number two, just like Trump Tower he must have hired a foreign worker to do his own tweets.”

During his Twitter routine, Rubio also mocked Trump for “having a meltdown” during commercial breaks at the debate, and said Trump was sweating, pacing and gesturing wildly.

“He asked for a full length mirror,” Rubio said. “I don’t know why, cause the podium goes up to here [his chest] but he wanted a full length mirror. Maybe to make sure his pants weren’t wet, I don’t know.”

WATCH:

Rubio’s aggressive attacks come after Trump has won three out of four primaries — perhaps too late. But he’s clearly enjoying the new burst of momentum and has won praise from conservatives for using Trump’s own mocking and bullying style against him.
