The battle to secure the U.S.-Mexico border has re-emerged as one of the most contentious issues on the campaign trail.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials in Washington repeatedly point to statistics that say a majority of illegal immigrants are captured while trying to enter the U.S., but agents on the ground say those numbers don’t reflect reality. Many officers who actually patrol the border say the data are manipulated in order to purposely deceive the American public.
