Obama Offers Himself as Reward for the City with Most Obamacare Signups
The Obama administration, concerned that millions of people eligible for Obamacare remain uninsured, announced its Healthy Communities Challenge on Friday.
The goal is to “engage key communities with large numbers or high percentages of uninsured in states across the country,” the Department of Health and Human Services announced on Friday.
“Through this challenge, we are calling on community leadership to build outreach efforts to reach these remaining uninsured and help them gain coverage.”
At the end of the open enrollment period, HHS says it will post the number of new Obamacare signups in the following selected cities:Β Dallas, Texas; Tampa, Fla.; Atlanta, Seattle, Great Falls, Mont.; Salt Lake City, Kansas City, Mo.; Chicago, Phoenix, Detroit, Charlotte, New Orleans, Denver, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Oakland, Calif.; Richmond, Va.; and Long Beach, Calif.
“The victorious community gets bragging rights, a healthier community, and a visit from President Obama to celebrate their success in helping ensure every American has health coverage,” HHS said.
