South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is slated to deliver the Republicans’ response to President Obama’s final State of the Union address next week.

Haley’s communications director, Rob Godfrey, said on Twitter that the governor is honored to have been asked by congressional GOP leaders to deliver the response.

The southern governor gained national attention last year for her handling of the church massacre in Charleston, as well as her response to debate over the Confederate flag.
