New Fox News Poll Shows Trump LEADING Hillary

A new Fox News poll shows Donald Trump with a small lead over Hillary Clinton, adding to a glut of good poll news for the presumptive Republican nominee.

Trump leads Clinton 45 percent to 42 percent in the poll of registered voters, a huge swing from last month, when Clinton was ahead 48-41.

Like other polls, this one shows huge demographic gaps between the candidates. Clinton predictably leads Trump 50-36 among women, but Trump has an even larger 55-33 lead among men. Hillary leads with black voters 90-7 and with Hispanic voters 62-23. Both margins are less than when Barack Obama won those groups by in 2012 against Mitt Romney. Trump, meanwhile, has a 24-point advantage among whites (55-31), higher than the 20-point margin Romney won whites by in 2012.

The poll adds to a recent wave of good polling news for Trump this week. Despite fears among some Republicans that he will lose to Hillary Clinton in a landslide, polls show Trump gaining on Hillary and performing well in critical swing states. For instance, an NBC poll released Tuesday showed Trump down just three points to Clinton and outperforming Romney among Hispanics.

One reason Trump is hanging tough with Hillary may be that both of them are viewed very negatively overall by the electorate. Sixty-six percent of voters said Clinton is not honest or trustworthy, compared to 57 percent who said the same of Trump. Voters also feel both candidates lack strong moral values and will do anything to win.

While Trump leads Clinton, he performs less well in a hypothetical match-up with Sen. Bernie Sanders, who has a 46-42 lead over him.

The poll was conducted from May 14-17, and has a sample size of 1,021 registered voters. The margin of error was plus or minus three percentage points.
