Missouri Abortion Probe Reveals Numerous Potential Violations

A Missouri Senate investigation into Planned Parenthood has revealed numerous potential violations from the abortion clinic that could potentially qualify as medical malpractice.

A special committee, called the Sanctity of Life, released their findings from an almost year-long investigation into Planned Parenthood in Missouri. Led by Sen Kurt Schaefer, the committee investigated Planned Parenthood after a video surfaced that implied Planned Parenthood might expand their selling of fetal tissue to St. Louis.

Some of the committee’s findings revealed that some fetal parts went missing without explanation. In over 300 reports the committee surveyed, pathologist Dr. Miller categorized the aborted babies as either “no fetal tissue identifiable” or as “fetal tissue is identifiable”after eight weeks of gestation. Four reports did not follow this system and show that aborted babies from 9-20 weeks of gestation were labeled as “no fetal parts identified.”

“The pathologist who the tissue is sent to pleaded the Fifth Amendment due to not wanting to have criminal self-incrimination, so that certainly raises a flag because it makes you wonder if some of the incomplete records suggest that perhaps this pathologist was selling these baby body parts. We really don’t know,” Missouri Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Internal documents from Planned Parenthood discuss using drug Digoxin in second trimester abortion cases. The drug causes the baby’s heart to stop before the doctor pulls its arms and legs apart. The report points to videos of discussions between Planned Parenthood executives as to how to avoid using the drug on babies so as to harvest more viable fetal tissue, with St. Louis being a prime place to sell fetal tissue.

“They haven’t been forthright or forthcoming all along in this process. It’s very discouraging since they portray themselves as being a women’s health service,” Rep. Hartzler told TheDCNF.

As well, Planned Parenthood consent forms either do not list 911, or places it in small print it beneath their own number. In a chart possibly meant for non-English speaking women, Planned Parenthood instructs the women to call them rather than 911 if they believe they need to go to the emergency room.

“I just really appreciate the work this Missouri Senate has done to delve further into the abortion industry in Missouri and this further backs up our work in Congress here as we look into the larger picture of the abortion industry and what is being done with these baby body parts,” Rep. Hartzler told TheDCNF.
