Military Photo of the Day: Remembering 9/11 in Afghanistan

By Tom Sileo Published on September 11, 2017

A joint service honor guard salutes the American flag at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan on September 11, 2016. The 9/11 remembrance ceremony was held at Bagram to honor those who lost their lives in the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history.

Sixteen years after 9/11, thousands of valiant U.S. troops are still fighting in Afghanistan and other dangerous faraway lands. As we remember the innocent victims of terrorism, The Stream also salutes the brave men and women in uniform who have volunteered to confront evil. May God bless these heroes, their families, and all who have lost loved ones since the war on terror began on September 11, 2001.
