U.S. Army Master Sgt. Justin Hummer is awarded a Purple Heart on May 5, 2017, at Cannon Air Force Base in New Mexico. Hummer received the decoration after sustaining shrapnel wounds and a traumatic brain injury during a mortar attack on his 2007 deployment to central Iraq.
