Military Photo of the Day: For Our Vets …

On Veterans Day weekend, The Stream honors those who served.

An Ohio Air National Guard airman speaks with U.S. Army World War II veteran Roman Rywalski during a ceremony honoring veterans at the Swanton Healthcare & Retirement Center in Swanton, Ohio, on November 3, 2018.

I chose this photo for Veterans Day weekend because it represents a bridge between two generations of heroes. After Pearl Harbor, courageous Americans like Roman Rywalski helped liberate the world from tyranny. After 9/11, selfless men and women like this member of the Ohio Air National Guard have volunteered during more than 17 years of constant war. All of these warriors are national treasures.

Don’t just thank a veteran this weekend. Pray for them and their families, while also doing what this airman appears to be doing this photo. Ask a veteran to share his or her story of sacrifice.

On Veterans Day and every day, let us pledge to honor and appreciate America’s true celebrities: the valiant men and women who have put everything on the line to defend our freedom. May God bless our nation’s veterans and their families.
