U.S. Army then-2nd Lt. Flo Groberg patrols the city streets of Asadabad, Afghanistan, on February 9, 2010. 

Less than three years after this photo was taken, Capt. Flo Groberg was seriously wounded in the same Afghan city. His heroic actions on August 8, 2012, saved dozens of American lives and resulted in Flo becoming the first immigrant to receive the Medal of Honor in more than 40 years.

As Veterans Day approaches, let’s make sure to share the stories of warriors like Capt. Flo Groberg, his fellow soldiers and his fallen brothers in arms.
