Military Photo of the Day: Honoring Neil Armstrong

By Tom Sileo Published on July 19, 2019

Two U.S. Navy Grumman F9F-2 Panther jets fly a sortie over Korea between 1951-52. S-116 was flown by U.S. Navy Ensign Neil Armstrong.

Eighteen years before he walked on the Moon, Ensign Neil Armstrong deployed to Korea, where he would fly 78 combat missions during the war effort. We honor this American hero as our nation and the world recognizes this weekend’s anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing.
