December 16, 1970 – Con Thein, Vietnam: Pfc James Hekman, 20, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, clutches a Christmas present under his arm as he reads a letter from home December 7, 1970. Hekman, who has been in Vietnam for six months, is stationed with units of the 5th Cavalry at this base only four miles from the DMZ.
