The Enola Gay is on display at the National Air & Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Va.

Seventy years ago today, the Enola Gay dropped the first atomic bomb ever used in combat on Hiroshima, Japan. Less than a month later, Japanese forces formally surrendered, marking the end of World War II.
