Lockdown Lifted at University in Indiana; Armed Robbery Suspect Still at Large

By Published on December 15, 2015

After an armed robbery near campus at IUPUI in Indianapolis, college officials warned the campus community to take shelter Tuesday afternoon as the suspect was running toward campus.

At about 4:30 p.m., another alert announced that areas nearby had been searched by police and the lockdown was lifted but that an increased police presence would continue. The suspect had not been found.

An Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis alert warned Tuesday afternoon: “A subject with a Gun has been reported running toward the IUPUI campus from the 700 Blk of Blake St. If you are on campus, trust your instincts and take safe shelter in the nearest available room. Lock the door if possible. Remain in place until the police or a campus administrator known to you gives the ALL CLEAR. Call 911 if you have information about the armed person. If you are not on campus, stay away. Follow instructions from university officials or local authorities. For available information and updates on this incident visit emergency.iu.edu.”
