A California police officer sought to reassure frightened individuals evacuating the site of Wednesday’s deadly San Bernardino shooting, telling them: “I’ll take a bullet before you do.”

After 14 were killed and 17 injured in the deadliest mass shooting since Sandy Hook, an unidentified officer led a group of individuals at the Inland Regional Center to safety.

“Try to relax, everyone, try to relax,” the officer said. “I’ll take the bullet before you do, that’s for damn sure. Just be cool, OK?”
