From Homeless to Happy: How Steve Harvey Found Love and God

By Published on September 10, 2015

Comedian and TV host Steve Harvey was once a college dropout who was homeless and living in a car for three years. He was, by his own admission, an unhappy person.

But Harvey said that finding love and forming a relationship with God helped change all of that.

The “Family Feud” and “Steve Harvey Show” host, who is a Christian, told HuffPo Live on Wednesday that meeting his third wife Marjorie Bridges had a profound impact on his life, explaining that he “wasn’t depressed,” but that he simply “wasn’t happy” before he met her.

“I wasn’t who I wanted to be in life,” he said. “A woman changed all that.”

Harvey said that Bridges gave him a chance to be himself, and he said that God, too, played a major role in helping move him forward in life.

“[Bridges] taught me a lot about myself. And then I found the inner joy and peace in myself and then changed my relationship with my creator,” he said. “I started talking to him more often. I figured he probably knew more about where I ought to go than I did. He started showing me some stuff, and she started showing me stuff.”
