Key Republican lawmakers began amplifying calls Monday to halt the resettlement of thousands of Syrian refugees into the United States — with some threatening to use a must-pass spending bill next month to force the Obama administration’s hand on the issue in the wake of the Paris terror attacks.

The demands could significantly complicate the path toward the Dec. 11 deadline to pass the government funding bill, raising the specter of a shutdown battle just before the holidays.
