George Gilder Defends Bitcoin

Count George Gilder — the economic thinker, venture capitalist and one of Ronald Reagan‘s favorite authors — not just as a big backer of bitcoin, but an advocate of making the cryptocurrency the new payment layer for the Internet.

Gilder’s comments are striking because of who he is. This is no hoodie-wearing Millennial. Nor is it a Gen X or Baby Boom veteran of Wall Street. Gilder is a 75-year-old economist who is perhaps best known for his 1981 bestseller “Wealth & Poverty” and his distinction as being former President Reagan’s “most quoted living author” because of his support for supply-side economics.
