FBI Asks Public for Help with San Bernardino Mass Shooting

By Published on January 5, 2016

SAN BERNARDINO — The FBI asked the public Tuesday morning for help filling in a “missing 18 minutes” in what San Bernardino shooters Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik did on Dec. 2.

FBI Assistant Director in Charge David Bowdich said investigators have used surveillance cameras and other techniques to reconstruct most of the day, but they’re trying to account for the time between 12:59 p.m. and 1:17 p.m. on Dec. 2.

“It’s critical because it’s possible — again, possible — that they stopped at, whether it be a storage area, a residence, a business” and could have met with someone at that time, Bowdich said. “Until we close that gap, we just don’t know for sure.”

If anyone has any media (like cell video) that can help fill in this timeline, Bowdich asked them to call 800-225-5424 (800 CALL FBI), then choose Option 4.

Bowdich also said that no evidence related to the mass shooting was found in a search at Seccombe Lake, and that there was no evidence the attack was directed from outside the United States.
