Eagles of Death Metal Join U2 Onstage for Triumphant Return after Paris Attacks

By Published on December 8, 2015

Less than a month after Islamic militants stormed their concert in Paris as part of coordinated attacks that killed 130 on Nov. 13, the Eagles of Death Metal were back onstage in the City of Light — courtesy of the mammoth rock band U2. Bono et. al. welcomed the California rockers onstage at the conclusion of the second of two concerts that were rescheduled after the attacks and broadcast on HBO.

“These are our brothers, our fellow troubadours and they were robbed of their stage three weeks ago, and we would like to offer them ours tonight,” Bono said at Paris’s AccorHotels Arena.

The bands then performed a joint cover of Patti Smith’s “People Have the Power” before U2 left the stage, letting the Eagles of Death Metal conclude the concert with their song “I Love You All the Time.”

“Thank you, Paris,” Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes — clad in white and making liberal use of Bono’s expansive extended stage — said from the stage. “We love you, and we will never stop rocking and rolling.”
