The DNC Sucker-Punched Sanders to Protect Hillary
It’s like giving somebody the death penalty for speeding: The Democratic National Committee is denying the Bernie Sanders campaign access to its own data after at least one staffer improperly looked at some Clinton campaign data.
The DNC computers store data for all the presidential campaigns; a glitch allowed the “violation.” But the key Sanders staffer involved has already been fired, and any others implicated will exit, too.
Most important: There was never any way to actually download the info, just peek at it.
For this, Team Sanders is being kept from even seeing its own voter info — a disaster that could set it back months, when the Iowa caucuses are just weeks away.
Sanders is suing to get his access back.
It was already obvious the party establishment would protect Hillary Clinton at the expense of small-d democratic principles; on Friday we mocked the DNC for doing its best to ensure no one watches its presidential debates.
But this is a new low.
