Disney’s Hard Lesson

By Mike Huckabee Published on February 11, 2023

Disney continues to be taught the lesson of “Get woke, go broke” the hard way, with 7,000 jobs about to be slashed in an attempt to cut costs by $5.5 billion.

The layoffs and restructuring may have been forced by a proxy war by trust fund manager Nelson Peltz, who called off his battle to get onto Disney’s board and force changes after CEO Bob Iger announced the layoffs and restructuring.

It also can’t help Disney’s image that they just caved to Beijing on censoring “The Simpsons” for telling the truth about Chinese forced labor camps.

Plus, the details have just been released on how Disney is about to lose its longtime control of the area where its theme parks are located to the government, the price of the corporation wading into politics to attack the new parental protection law and misrepresent it as the “Don’t Say Gay” law.

Will Disney Turn Around?

Time will tell whether all this signals a real turnaround at Disney. It’s a good sign that they’re bringing back conservative Tim Allen to voice Buzz Lightyear in a new “Toy Story” movie.

But if you think cutting 7,000 jobs is bad, Stephen Green of PJ Media notes that they’ve already “laid off” 2.4 million subscribers of Disney Plus because they refuse to fire the employees who’ve caused all this: the radical activists who keep spending them into bankruptcy by producing “woke” shows full of anti-American, racial and LGBTQ propaganda that’s unfit for children and that nobody wants to see.

I dearly hope that Disney has learned its lesson and will return to creating wholesome, non-political family entertainment. But if they get rid of all the Mickey Mouse revolutionaries in the company, I fear that this may be like the famous warning from the movie, “Citizen Kane”:

You’re the greatest fool I’ve ever known, Kane. If it was anybody else, I’d say what’s going to happen to you would be a lesson to you. Only you’re going to need more than one lesson. And you’re going to get more than one lesson.
